I Love the name Kara! It's a name similar to my grandmother's (Cora), my mom's mom. I don't use it primarily because it's often mispronounced (care-uh instead of car-uh). I feel like Kai (rhymes with hi, sky and bye) is easier to remember so I prefer to use that. And even if they pronounce it as Kay, it sounds like the first letter of my name. But Kai isn't new. It's been my nickname for decades.
After studying to become a parent coach in 2022 I realized I found my superpowers being the mom and student of my young Black male superhero so I resurrected the name "Momma Kai" as my super s-hero name in 2023. And yes, I do mean resurrected. It's not new either.
It was originally given to my by the ladies college basketball team I managed. I was in my 30s and definitely the mom of the pack so I am grateful I was able to return to that name because it fits me.
The 4 most important things I'd like you to know about me are... I'm a:
~ Super she-ro Mom

For more information about any of these please check out this blog post.
Please Note: I use we because L.U.V. Enterprises Presents is bigger than me, and eventually it will be "we". Right now, this is my personal invitation because I'm leading for now.
~ Committed... to highlighting the best and addressing the mess here in Raleigh.
~ Compassionate... by following the example of the Exceptional Samaritan in Luke 10

Here are a few suggestions:

The #1 reason you should Be 3 C With Me is because you get to "use wisely your power of choice".
This is the "fourth great law of happiness and success" found in a classic, "The Greatest Miracle in the World" by Og Mandino. The author writes "Use wisely, your power of choice" and goes on to say,
Choose to love ... rather than hate.
Choose to laugh ... rather than cry.
Choose to create ... rather than destroy.
Choose to persevere ... rather than quit.
Choose to praise ... rather than gossip.
Choose to heal ... rather than wound.
Choose to give ... rather than steal.
Choose to act ... rather than procrastinate.
Choose to grow ... rather than rot.
Choose to pray ... rather than curse.
Choose to live ... rather than die.
When you choose to Be 3 C With Me, many more opportunities to choose will open for you. "How?" you might ask. Well, for one, we're building a new system here. One where you get to participate in building a community that meets your needs AND where you can be a part of meeting someone else's. It's not only that though.
If you're not aware, the City of Raleigh is going through some growing pains. Our municipal and county governments have been hit with some pretty audacious challenges, the biggest one being that instead of gaining more revenue with the explosion of growth through commercial property taxes we're actually losing millions (potentially hundreds of millions) for several different reasons.
I'm not going to go into the reasons (please check the footnotes for links to the videos where this information is shared). What I AM going to say is the only people who truly pay property taxes out of pocket are residential property owners and renters. Perhaps you didn't realize that commercial property owners raise rents on their residential and commercial tenants to cover their costs. So... with a significant loss in tax revenue, in order to cover basic City services, the City will have to raise the tax rate.
The tax rate increase will raise property taxes for residential and commercial customers THEN the costs of the goods and services we pay for will increase so business owners can cover their expenses. And while all this increase is happening, what's not increasing at the same pace is wages, social security, and other government funded payments.
And guess what? You don't even get to choose where the majority of that money goes. Why? Because it's already been allocated to salaries, projects and services the City is required to provide. That's why we need a new system. Not a system to replace the current government because we need them to continue to provide parks, trash pick up, water and..., and...., and all the essential services.
This sister system you're choosing to be a part of creating and sustaining can and will partner with the City to highlight the best and address the mess together. We intend to take some of the burden of some services off the shoulders of the City. Their rightful place is to be implemented by the community so we can truly help Raleigh fulfill its vision and mission of being a place "for all".
Because WE are the hope WE are waiting for!
